How to Get Glow-Worthy Skin

Getting glow-worthy skin doesn’t have to be hard - all it takes is just a few simple steps and some small changes in your everyday skincare routine to bring your skin from dull to absolutely glowing. In this article, we’re going to answer the coveted question of “How to get glowing skin?” so that you never have to Google it again!

Don’t Underestimate a Good Facial Massage

If you aren’t including facial massage into your daily skincare routine, now is the time to add it! Giving yourself a quick facial massage after you apply your favorite oil or serum will give you both short and long term benefits. According to celebrity makeup artist, Molly Stern, a good way to give yourself a facial massage is by using your fingertips to massage your cheeks and neck in an upward motion. Cleanse Regularly

Cleansing your face is something you should be doing every single day, and it’s very important to your skin’s overall health and appearance. There are many different reasons behind why washing your face is so important, but some of the main benefits of a regular facial cleansing practice are:

  • Removing unwanted buildup: Throughout the day, our skin builds up lots of dirt, oil, and other unwanted impurities such as dead skin cells. By washing your face at least twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, it will ensure that your skin is properly cleansed so that it’s able to absorb other skincare products, such as facial toners and oils.
  • Boosting your skin’s hydration: According to Westlake Dermatology, cleansing the skin regularly can help “manage PH levels of the skin; enabling sufficient water and product retention.”
  • Maintaining a clear complexion: Cleansing your skin regularly can prevent unwanted buildup on the skin, which can cause acne breakouts and other skin concerns.

Spice Up Your Foundation

Taking care of your skin by cleansing it everyday and using the right products for your complexion will definitely lead you to getting glowing skin, but there is always more you can do! Many makeup artists and professionals will add a few drops of their favorite facial oil or serum into their foundation before they apply it to add a little extra pop of glow. By doing this, you can add an extra layer of glow to your skin that’s bound to be noticed.

Don’t Overdo It on the Exfoliation

Exfoliation is necessary, but if you do it too much it can wreak havoc on your skin’s overall look and feel. According to Glamour, exfoliating “two to three times a week is great for your skin, but any more and you can risk compromising your skin’s barrier function (i.e., its ability to keep moisture in and damaging elements like free radicals out).” A weak skin barrier can lead to skin concerns such as flakiness, dryness, and general irritation. Your best bet is to find a chemical exfoliator with AHAs, BHAs, or PHAs - these can help to “break apart the bonds that hold dead skin in place to gently clear it away” while physical exfoliators are more abrasive on your skin.
