We know you’re wondering - is it okay to change up your skincare routine once in a while? Well the answer from us is a resounding yes, but only if you do it in the right way. Although you probably shouldn’t be changing up your skincare routine every week, once in a while is okay (and sometimes necessary)! In this article, we’re going to discuss how to change your skincare routine in the right way while maintaining your skin’s glow, because we definitely don’t want that going away!
There are tons and tons of products out there that claim to work instantly and come with promises of change overnight. Unfortunately, this is not the case for most products you’ll find on the shelf. According to Dr. Kendra Bergstrom, clinical assistant professor of dermatology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, “it’s hard to see a lot before eight weeks” depending on the specific skincare product you’re using. So the next time you’re looking for a new skincare product, really make sure it’s one you’re willing to wait to see long term results for.
Change Your Routine to Match Your Current Lifestyle
There are many different factors that come into play when it comes to determining the best skincare routine for you and your skin. Some things to consider when changing your skincare routine are:
- Weather - Do you live in a dry climate or a place that seems to change seasons everyday (aka Colorado)? The weather where you live has a huge impact on the overall health and look of your skin, so you should choose products that work well with your skin in your area’s specific climate.
- Age - We’re all aging, we can’t escape it (and that’s okay)! Here at Eossi Beauty we’re all about letting our natural beauty shine, whether you’re in your 20s or 50s - all skin is beautiful. With this being said, as we age our skin needs different things, which is why the skincare products you used when you were 16 probably won’t work when you’re in your 30s. Dr. Bergstrom says that as we age, we lose some of the natural oil in our skin and therefore our skin gets drier.
- Exercise - If you recently took up a new workout routine, it might be time to change your skincare routine. Sweating more can cause acne on the skin, so if you’re going to be sweating a lot it might be wise to ramp up on your anti-acne products.
Do Your Research
Before purchasing any skincare product, you should absolutely do your research. If you’re skincare fanatics like we are, then you probably already do this but we wanted to remind you anyways! Look at every single ingredient in the product and make sure it's one that won’t harm or irritate your skin, especially for our sensitive skin friends out there. If you do choose to add a new product to your skincare routine, notice how your skin reacts to it - both immediately and after a couple weeks.
We hope that these tips will help you as you continue along your skincare journey!
