With the new year approaching faster than we think, many of you might be thinking about setting resolutions for 2021 - well, we’re here to help you! There are lots and lots of wellness and health trends floating around, but we’ve compiled a list of some of the ones we think are actually worth trying!

The Wim Hof Method

The Wim Hof Method is named after Wim Hof himself, aka the iceman. According to the Wim Hof Method’s official website, Wim Hof got this nickname by “breaking a number of records related to cold exposure including: climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in shorts, running a half marathon above the Arctic Circle barefoot, and standing in a container while covered with ice cubes for more than 112 minutes.”

Wim was able to complete these feats using his specialized breathing technique, which is based on three pillars:

  1. Breathing techniques that “improve your energy level, detox your body, reduce stress levels, rebalance the nervous system and strengthen your immune system.”
  2. Cold therapy, which involves using the power of cold conditions to “burn fat, boost your immune system, sleep better, reduce inflammation and enhance nature’s own mood boosters.”
  3. Commitment to move out of your comfort zone.

According to holistic health coach Natalie Archer, intuitive eating is all about “focusing more on the quality of what's on your plate as much as learning to recognize why you reach for certain foods, and how that affects your mood and energy levels when you do.” This method of eating is about listening to your body and what it needs in that exact moment. By doing this, you can become more aware of when your body is hungry and when it’s not. According to Christie Calucchia, research shows that intuitive eating is linked to developing healthier eating habits as well as improved mental and emotional well-being.

Putting a Priority on Your Mental Health

We’re going to say it once and only once: MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that putting a priority on your mental health is one of the best ways you can take care of yourself. We are strong supporters of getting help if you need it. According to a report put together by the Global Wellness Summit in 2019, “one-quarter of the world's population will suffer from a mental or neurological issue at some time in their lives, and almost half a billion people are currently dealing with a condition.”
