In recent years, the CBD skincare industry has taken the world by storm. One major thing we’ve seen lacking in the world of CBD beauty and skincare is education, which is why we’re providing you with the information you need to understand the crazy world of this industry and how we fit into it! So if you’ve been asking yourself questions like:
- What does CBD do for skin?
- Is CBD good for the skin?
- Will CBD help improve my skin concerns?
Don’t worry! We’re here to help answer those questions. In this article, we’re going to explore the world of CBD skincare, its potential benefits, and how you can incorporate it into your own rituals!
What Is CBD?
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring compound found in the Cannabis sativa plant. There are over 100 known cannabinoids in the Cannabis sativa plant, including CBD’s sister cannabinoid THC, short for delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. Unlike THC, cannabidiol is non-psychoactive, therefore it will not induce the feeling of “being high.” In recent years, the CBD beauty and skincare industry has taken off, according to Beauty Packaging. There have been many studies noting CBD’s potential benefits for the skin, but some other potential benefits of the cannabinoid include:
- Relief from chronic pain
- Help with anxiety and depression
- Reduces inflammation and signs of eczema
What Does CBD Do For Your Skin?
If you find yourself asking this question, you’re in the right place! According to NYC-based aesthetician and founder of Ildi Pekar Wellness Studio, Ildi Pekar, CBD might help with skin concerns like inflammation, dryness, and free radical damage due to its supposed anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. According to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, cannabidiol (CBD) might be effective in treating acne as it was shown to reduce the production of sebum in the skin. Research has also shown that CBD might be effective in treating eczema and psoriasis in addition to acne.
This research is partially what drove us to want to include CBD in our Facial Glow Oil #8. Our co-founder and Chief Glow Officer, Rochonne Sanchez, personally struggles with eczema and rosacea, and the oil has helped her tremendously, which she recently spoke about in BusinessDen. We consider ourselves to truly be one of the best CBD beauty products on the market, and we invite you to check out our CBD skin care reviews to see for yourself!
Is CBD Good For Your Skin?
Although we cannot make claims regarding proven benefits of CBD for your skin, we can educate you about the differences between CBD products and some things to look out for on your exploration. All CBD infused products, like ours, are made from full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or CBD isolate. Full-spectrum CBD oil contains all the cannabinoids found in hemp, including THC. Broad-spectrum mostly contains various cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids found in the hemp plant, but does not contain any THC. CBD isolate is at least 99% pure, and contains no other compounds or cannabinoids, which makes it perfect for CBD skincare and beauty products because it is thought to be full of skin-rejuvenating antioxidants and usually does not clog pores. As of 2018 and with the passage of the Farm Bill, CBD that is derived from industrial hemp with 0.3% or less THC is completely legal.
Considering that the CBD is still in its infancy, there has not been a ton of research laying out proven benefits of the cannabinoid, but we are confident that the industry will continue to move forward, and subsequently more benefits will be discovered as well.
