It All Started With a Love of

Argan Oil

Known as Liquid Gold in Morocco

Meet our Founder

Hi I am Shannon! I launched Eossi Beauty on July 24th, 2020, which happens to be International Self Care Day. I started this company out of a love of Argan oil, which was a staple in my skincare routine. Growing up in Colorado I've always battled dry skin. After falling in love with Argan oil I started exploring other natural oils. I found a formulator (actually a few) and 3 years later we've been able to launch a line of products and facial tools. It's already been a long journey but we are just at the beginning. Thank you for stopping by and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or comments. I love connecting with our Glow Community!

Our collaboration with McCarter

What started as a few collaborative projects has grown into a trusted partnership. McCarter has built a passionate community around the plant we all love, and we’re proud to support her as she launches her very first merch line.

We’re honored to help bring her vision to life and serve as the platform for her product release. This is just the beginning more exciting collaborations are on the way.

How To Prevent Dry, Flaky Makeup During the Holidays

Struggling with dry skin and flaky makeup this holiday season? Learn how to prep winter skin, use facial oils, and layer makeup for a smooth, glowing finish at every holiday party.

How To Prevent Dry, Flaky Makeup this Holiday Season

How To Prevent Dry, Flaky Makeup this Holiday Season

Dry skin hits hard during the holidays. Cold winter weather, blasting indoor heat, and busy social schedules all work against your skin barrier. The result is the same for most people: tight, irritated skin that makes makeup look patchy, cakey, or flaky. If your foundation lifts, cracks, or clings to dry spots this season, you’re not doing anything wrong. Your skin just needs more hydration and the right prep.

The most effective way to keep makeup smooth during winter is to layer skincare correctly, and that starts with using hydrating facial oils. Oils help soften rough patches, lock in moisture, and create a smooth base so foundation and concealer blend evenly instead of sitting on top of dry skin.

Why Skin Gets So Dry in Winter

Low humidity and cold air pull moisture out of your skin. Indoor heating makes dryness even worse. When your skin becomes dehydrated, your makeup highlights every flaky area, especially around the nose, chin, and cheeks. That’s why a winter skincare routine that focuses on moisture, not just water-based hydration, is essential.

How To Prep Your Skin for Flake-Free Holiday Makeup

1. Gently exfoliate once or twice a week
Removing dead skin helps your oils and moisturizers absorb better. Avoid harsh scrubs that irritate dry winter skin.

2. Apply a hydrating serum
Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid that boost moisture before you seal it in.

3. Use a facial oil to create an even base
This step prevents flaky makeup more than anything else. Warm a few drops of oil between your hands and press it into your skin. Oils cushion the skin, smooth texture, and help makeup glide on without clinging to dry spots.

4. Let the oil settle for five to seven minutes
This creates a perfectly balanced surface for foundation.

5. Choose cream products over powders
Cream formulas blend better on dry winter skin and look more natural during the holidays.

Your Holiday Glow Starts with Hydration

If you want long-lasting, smooth holiday makeup, focus on repairing dryness first. A lightweight facial oil can transform how your makeup looks and wears, keeping your skin soft, even, and glowing through every festive event on your calendar.

The Science of Natural Skin Oils: Why They Matter and How to Care for Them

When it comes to skincare, understanding the natural oils produced by your skin is key to maintaining a healthy, glowing complexion. These oils, known as sebum, play a critical role in protecting and nourishing your skin.

Where Do Natural Skin Oils Come From?

Sebum is produced by sebaceous glands located in the dermis layer of your skin. The dermis is the thick, inner layer of skin beneath the outer epidermis. It contains connective tissue, hair follicles, and sweat glands, and is responsible for giving your skin strength and elasticity. Sebaceous glands are most concentrated on your face and scalp but are present all over your body. Sebum is a complex mixture of lipids, including triglycerides, wax esters, squalene, and free fatty acids. Together, these components create a natural barrier that locks in moisture and protects against environmental damage.

How to Care for Your Skin's Natural Oils

  1. Gentle Cleansing: Over-washing or using harsh soaps can strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. Opt for gentle, sulfate-free cleansers that preserve your skin's oil balance.

  2. Hydration: Drinking plenty of water and maintaining a balanced diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids helps support healthy oil production.

  3. Use of Natural Oils: Incorporating natural oils like jojoba, argan, or rosehip into your skincare routine can enhance your skin’s natural barrier. These oils mimic the skin’s sebum and can regulate oil production, keeping your skin balanced and hydrated.

Oils vs. Lotions: Which Is Better?

While both oils and lotions have their place in skincare, they function differently. Oils are excellent for sealing in moisture and reinforcing the skin's natural barrier. They penetrate deeply, nourishing the skin and improving elasticity. Natural oils are especially beneficial for dry or sensitive skin, as they are less likely to contain additives or preservatives.

Lotions, on the other hand, are water-based and can provide hydration. They are often lighter and absorb more quickly than oils. However, many lotions contain synthetic ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin or disrupt the skin's natural oil balance. Additionally, because lotions are water-based, they can sometimes evaporate quickly, potentially leaving the skin feeling drier if not sealed in with an occlusive agent.

Why Oils Might Be the Better Choice

Based on research and dermatological insights, oils can be more effective than lotions for maintaining skin health. They align closely with the skin's natural composition, making them ideal for moisturizing without clogging pores or causing irritation. Oils not only hydrate but also support the skin’s natural repair processes, leading to healthier, more resilient skin.

Understanding and caring for your skin’s natural oils is essential for a radiant complexion. By incorporating natural oils into your skincare routine, you can support your skin’s natural defenses, maintain hydration, and achieve a balanced, healthy glow. At Eossi Beauty, we believe in harnessing the power of natural oils to enhance your skin’s natural beauty.
